The Substance Awareness Center of Indian River County (SAC) is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) to provide Day/Night Treatment services for individuals with substance use conditions.
The Day Treatment program serves adults with substance use and co-occurring psychiatric and substance use conditions, along with their families as identified. SAC does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, religious or cultural background, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, physical, or psychological disability. Priority for treatment includes pregnant women, individuals involved in the child welfare system, and IV drug users. ?
Program Fees: are based on a sliding fee scale which is structured by the Federal Poverty Guidelines. All programs are dependent upon funding. Reduced funding may result in an increase in fees charged to the client or in a reduction in the number of persons served.
Location: 1507 20th Street Vero Beach, FL 32960. SAC’s day treatment program serves individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The program operates 4 days per week from the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
Services include individual, group, and family counseling, as well as substance abuse education, with strategies for avoiding substance abuse or relapse, health problems related to substance abuse, and motivational enhancement strategies for achieving a substance free lifestyle. Peer support is used to help orient, engage and retain clients in treatment. Peers also lead a LifeSkills or Living Sober group. The day treatment program includes assessment, individual, family, and group counseling sessions. Experiential groups such as qi gong, meditation, and acupuncture are offered. Case management in the form of linkage and referral is provided. Length of time in treatment varies for each individual; the average duration is approximately 3-4 months.
