Annual Freedom 5K Run &  Walk

The Substance Awareness Center of Indian River County kicks off autumn in high gear with our annual Freedom Run 5K, which raises funds and awareness about substance misuse and prevention.

Last year, runners enjoyed the slightly cooler weather, appreciating the change in date and venue from July 4 in Sebastian to October at South Beach Park. We stayed with the Freedom 5K because our run really celebrates the freedom that individuals and families achieve through recovery from substance misuse disorders. We asked our runners to think about who or what they run for because we all need freedom from something in our lives.

Proceeds support programs, regardless of an individual’s ability to pay, aimed at reducing the impact of substance misuse and behavioral health disorders through prevention, education, treatment and recovery support.

Here at SAC, we offer a range of community programs. Last year, our Prevention team touched the lives of over 5,000 youth! We could not do that without YOUR help. Additional programs include day treatment, outpatient counseling, and recovery support services for individuals and families with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

You can make a real difference in the lives of Indian River County youth and the adults that we serve every day. Support from you continues to prove that PREVENTION IS A PARTNERSHIP and RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE! Together, we can create a healthy, substance abuse-free community. Donation checks can be made out to SAC, and mailed to 1507 20th St, Vero Beach, FL, 32960.
